Why is her most recruiters unhelpful and tend to constantly ignore emails from applicants in the interview process? From my experience, recruiters always say something along the lines of, “Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions,” but 90% of the time if it is not something they want to know from you such as your availability for interviews, it will just ignore your question or email.

  1. I guess that would explain why during my search, I had NO help from any
recruiter I talked to(and I talked to a lot of them), but had more success
in applying to the posted jobs myself. hmm…makes me wonder why they are
    in business???

  4. Once you’ve been in the game for a while, you’ll learn to use and if
necessary abuse recruiters. If one calls me to see how I’m doing I will
always give them an availability date that is months out. When they ask for
an updated resume, I’m assuming they are wanting leads and I cut them off
at the knees unless there is an open req that moment. Unless I’m currently
unemployed I follow up only by email, never by phone. Any open req is cross
referenced against the major job boards to see if they are the primary or
just a feeder. As soon as rates come up I deflect every single time. If
they want reference up front, I put them on my block list for life. Do this
consistently and you end up with a few or zero recruiters. If the number is
zero, assume you can find a job on your own better, if you end up with a
    few treat them well

  7. +Maurice Levie You can obviously run your personal business any way you like AND your complete opposition to recruiters has been presented with smug superiority. One thing I have seen in 40+ years is that there comes a tie when people need help and your rudeness may come back to hurt you. Like not saving for retirement, one day you wake up and BOOM. AND, again, you can run your business as you wish.

  9. Jeff Altman ha ha ha. Folks, witnesses the clutch your pearls routine. As you’ll discover with recruiters, they have a wide array of conditioned responses, and pointed insults. I’m more bemused at this point, really. If you’re for real, admit to your viewers that the recruiting profession lays somewhere between second hand car salesman and cab driver. In fact, you started out so well in this video I decided to offload some of my tricks.

  11. Maurice, every profession has that issue. You think there are developers that are little more than arsonists for their employers? My own background, if you do some research, includes an article called, “Why People Hate Third Party Recruiters,” where I lay waste on my former profession. But again, remember that arrogance has a way of coming back to bite people in the but. As I said before, you may run your business any way you like. Rudeness has a way of coming back to bite people in the rear at the least opportune times. Have a great day.

  13. Jeff Altman indeed. About 2 months ago the VP of the group of
Companies I’m associated with held a meeting with the entire area associates and flat out revealed that their MO was to make money off their associates any which way they could, using the financial crisis as a ruse.
Now, it is rather bizarre to think any three player game can be played for long with one of them consenting to be clueless. Thanks to realrates I wised up quickly, and now play the game as hard if not harder than the recruiters I run into. The company I keep are the 3rd party agencies that are picky with clients, stand firm on their fee structure and know to keep in touch over the years. Heck, I even use a fellow traveler’s database of recruiters and recruiting agencies to determine whom I’m dealing with. Love listening to your vids keep em coming but looking at the lack of comments that shake your world view you’re in a bubble.

  15. Most people would rather criticize than praise. What I find is I get messages through LinkedIn thanking me for the videos and very little criticism. I take the absence of criticism as an endorsement
