I spoke an AARP meeting recently to over 100 people over the age of 50. I left feeling depressed because of how ill-prepared these people were to look for work. I hope that will be your circumstances but, if it is, follow my advice and get some help.

  1. Disagree – the pyramid exists only for FTEs, contractors are the flesh of
    this skeleton. I can and have jumped up 2-4 levels once they found out what
    I can do for them. FTE-ship is a sinking boat, go read “55 and scared
    shitless” for $4.99 on Amazon kindle and you’ll have the new mindset.
    Competition- your competition is not younger folks, you are now going
    against the hordes of out-of-country warm bodies that charge $8.75/hour.
    The younger folks have already figured out how to be hyper local or
    completely burrowed into the Org. Also recommend death march and outsourced
    by Ed Yourdon for a realism-based approach to beat the cheap warm bodies
    that don’t produce ( hint: proven track record portfolio sells, avoid
    resumes $
