  1. Search firms have their own ‘blacklists’. Robert Half, Office Team- etc- all owned by the same company.

  3. As far as the employment agencies are concerned, filing for unemployment after a contract assignment ends will get you on the black-list for sure. You can pretty much forget about ever getting work from them again. Although there is not a centralized database, many of these agencies are one-in-the-same due to mergers (like Jennifer mentioned).

  5. I reopened my UI claim when my contract ended. Does that mean the recruiter won’t call me again? The unfortunate thing is that I can’t afford no money coming in until the next contract comes up.

  7. I was speaking from my own experience as a contract worker and a temp recruiter in a previous life. Your situation might be totally different, especially if the client gave you a glowing review about your work. You did the right thing. You need to keep a roof over your head and food on the table until you get work again regardless.

  9. I agree, I keep track of people who are no shows for face to face interviews. If they claim they drive power equipment and fail Prove It Testing, there is a note where I probed further. If they use poor judgement calling excessively causing business interruption and don’t use voice mail, I remember that. 100% agreement. Doing temp to hire work, anyone who just doesn’t bother to show up with excessive attendance issues.
